Mentor – an experienced and trusted adviser.
A Mentor’s Role
A mentor serves as a role model, teacher, counselor, advisor, sponsor, advocate, and ally. A mentor provides the mentee with tools such as guidance, advice, feedback, prayer, and support that can help the mentee become a better version of themself.
Above is the definition of a mentor and a description of some of the forms a mentor’s role may take. At Seed of Hope Center, we serve clients who would greatly benefit from having a mentor in their life for many different reasons. Some may not have any support from family or friends. For some, the support they have is dysfunctional and does not help to better their circumstances or give them guidance.
When a client comes to the center, we create a care plan with them that consists of the services we provide, such as educational classes facilitated by a Client Advocate. We explain the different ways that having a mentor can be a huge support and offer the client an opportunity to have a mentor.
Some clients are looking to deepen their faith journey, some are looking to have someone to reach out to for conversation or guidance, and some simply want to share a cup of coffee or breakfast with someone. These are just a few suggestions.
We would love to set up a meet and greet at Seed of Hope Center for introduction of the client and mentor. At that time, we can talk about what the client’s greatest needs or desires are and see if it is a good fit for mentor and mentee. From there we can set up the next conversation and/or meeting place.
If being a mentor is something you feel led to be a part of, we encourage you to reach out to us by filling out the form below. Thank you.
